St Patrick's Day

Green For Seventeen Of March

Today is St Patrick's Day.  It is a big event for the Irish people.  The Irish all over the world,  celebrate  St Patrick's with grand feasts, parties and also parades,  green is the colour theme.

I love the green colour, it is so fresh, crisp and close to nature.  To go along with today's occasion,  I cooked two beautiful dishes in bright green,  avocado rolls, and sponge pandan rolls.

Information about Saint Patrick's Day.
Saint Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on 17 March. It commemorates Saint Patrick (c. AD 387–461), the most commonly recognised of the patron saint of Ireland and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. Saint Patrick's Day was made an official feast day in the early seventeenth century and has gradually become a celebration of Irish culture in general.

According to legend, Saint Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish people.

Wearing of the green
Initially, the colour associated with Saint Patrick was blue. Over the years the colour green and its association with Saint Patrick's day grew. Green ribbons and shamrock were worn in celebration of St Patrick's Day as early as the 17th century. Saint Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish and the wearing and display of shamrocks and shamrock-inspired designs have become a ubiquitous feature of the day. In the 1798 rebellion, to make a political statement, Irish soldiers wore full green uniforms on 17 March in hopes of catching public attention. The phrase "the wearing of the green", meaning to wear a shamrock on one's clothing, derives from a song of the same name song (Wiki)

All my best wishes to everyone who celebrates St Patrick's Day, have a beautiful and fun day.  I believe the parties are still going until night time. Enjoy!

I had a fun day too,  the food preparation in the kitchen was delightful.  I was surprised that I baked the green sponge by just following my heart, and it worked.  The cake sliced beautifully, and the taste was good too.

It has been a good day for me, I hope yours has been too.  Enjoy your weekend.
