Have A Cigar!

Celebrate and Have a Cigar
(www.pipesmoking.net)

Have a Cigar: when those special events happen in your life. Those special events could be at the wedding, the celebration of an engagement, a well-deserved Promotion or pay raise or the birth of a child. In fact, have a cigar when you have a good day or a bad day. The scent and taste of a fine cigar will transport you from the events of your day and bring you into a world of enjoyment that appreciates the more beautiful things of life.
Therefore, To honour the birth of a child, and specifically a son, a cigar was given, by those who could afford this gesture, to the friends of the family in celebration of the blessed event. The father would come out and let everyone know it was time to have a cigar.
This tradition dates back to the end of the 17th century when cigars were treasured because of their rareness and unavailability. Because of the preciousness of cigars in a household, the giving away of a cigar was considered to be a reflection of sincere gratitude.

On that note, I am preparing a beautiful savoury - Crispy Cheese Cigars to celebrate the birth of our fifth grandchild.  Now We Have Five!

Delicate, Crispy Cheese Cigars
Cheese Cigars are delicious food to serve on any occasion

In The honour of our grandchildren, I decided to create a cheese cigar.  Fill the phyllo sheets with herbs and cheese mixture, then roll them into little cigars.  To do this, just place the filling at one end, and then fold and roll.

Crispy Cheese Cigar
175 gr Feta cheese
2 tablespoons olive oil
Mixed herbs: mints, chives, oregano
Place all ingredients in a bowl, and mix them together

To Make the Cheese Cigars
using phyllo pastry
Brush the sheets with oil and mixed with butter

Place some cheese at the end of the pastry, fold
the sides about 2 cm over the cheese mixture.  Then
fold the pastry that is close to you over, roll it over,
keep on rolling until the end of the pastry.

Long cheese cigars are ready to bake.

Put the cigars, on a tray, sitting close to one another
Bake in a preheated hot oven for 12 minutes or until
the cigars are golden brown

A few tips to work with phyllo pastry, it is so delicate, brittle, it needs special care.
Working with phyllo:
Don’t let it dry out because it tears easily
Keep them moist, cover with plastic wrap, then a damp cloth.
Any phyllo you don’t need, wrap in plastic and refrigerate.

Have a Cheese Cigar! Cheese cigar is so delicious, delicate, crispy and delightful for children and adults to enjoy.

Love you all: Milo Isaac, Lily Anna, Henry, Thomas and Mary Rose.

Thanks For Visiting
Until Next Post
