Daily Bread

Give us our daily bread.
There is nothing like freshly home-baked bread, to have them is a treat, however newly baked from the local bakery is as good too. The taste of fresh food is better and more enjoyable than the old ones.

Snapshots of home-baked bread from Susy’s kitchen: bread rolls, quick herb bread, steamed buns, French baguettes, sesame bread rolls, flatbreads and brioches.

Bread Rolls

Herb Quick Bread

Steamed Buns is Chinese bread.  They are very popular bread for my family.
(3-7-2011)

Susy's style steamed buns with meat filling.
(7-7-2012)

French Bread-Baguettes, they looked good, but they were dense.  Maybe next time I will do better.
(7-3-2011)

 Sesame Bread Rolls
(5-3-2012)

Flat Bread
(5-9-2011)
Flatbread is easy and quick to make.  Serve it with curry, or roasted meat, salad and yoghurt.

You can have flatbread at any time.  Simply toast it, and served with dips.  Delicious.

Brioches (17-11-2011)
It is rich and light bread; Has a lot of butter and eggs.  It serves hot for breakfast with coffee.

Come to think of it, bread is such simple and basic food, what you need only three ingredients, flour, yeast and water. Of course, if you want flavours and rich bread you would need, eggs, butter, nuts, chocolates and so on.

I love to work with yeast, kneading the dough is very therapeutic. Indeed I enjoy bread making.  The baking time is another story, the smell in the kitchen is very inviting, and it is indeed 'home'.

Have a good weekend, maybe if you are staying in,  you could bake bread.

Until Next Post
Susy
