Savoury-Sweet Rolls

A crispy pastry, it is delicious for savouries or sweets.  It is made from simple ingredients, flour, egg and water.

I baked pastry rolls with delicious meat and vegetables filling, it was so delicious, a savoury taste together with a light crispy pastry on the outer side.  It's good to be served hot or room temperature.

Savoury and Sweet Pastry

Ingredients
1 1/2 cup plain flour
1 egg
1/3 cup lukewarm water
Method:

Place the flour in a large bowl, add in water and lightly beaten egg.
Mix together quickly to make a soft dough
Knead lightly until the dough is smooth
Rest the dough and wrap it in a cling plastic for 25 minutes
Roll the dough out into thin sheets pastry.
Use the pastry immediately.












Pastry Rolls with savoury meat and vegetable filling
Place some filling onto the thin pastry sheet 
Cover the filling with the pastry, brush it with melted butter or oil between the pastry sheets as you roll.  Keep on rolling until the pastry encloses the filling.
Bake the pastry roll onto a hot oven at 180 degrees C for 20-22 minutes until golden brown.
Take it out from the oven and transfer onto serving place.  Slice the pastry roll to serve.
Serve hot or room temperature.
Delicate and Delicious Pastry Rolls with Savoury Filling


For the sweet one, prepare any fruit filling, such as mixed fresh fruits.  I love to do it with pear and sultana filling.  Do it as you would do to make a strudel.

The savoury pastry roll freezes well, but to keep the pastry stays crispy,  you may reheat it in a conventional oven.
