Beyond The Gate

The new repotted succulent.
Today a few jobs were done in the front yard.  Potted plants need topping up with new soils, fertilisers and so forth.

A large bag of soil that she had for her potted plants was a good one, it sweetened up the old ground, and had a lot of goodies in it.  It covered a lot of pots: two of the English boxes, one of the topiary, and two potted topiary of lily pilly, and also the large pot of Fig tree.  So she did well, not to mention that she did two repotting of the succulent plants as well. They look right now, and it will grow better, she thought.  The front garden was done for now, by the gate she went to the backyard.

Walkers pass by,  stop for a few seconds or minutes curious, want to know, what is in there and what is going on?
A lot more questions, what type of garden? A lot of colours . . .

"What is happening beyond the gate???".

In this particular place, beyond the gate, a lot has been going on.  People are fixing the garden.  Hedges have been trimmed by a professional gardener, it was a massive work.

He is checking the hedge.
It has grown too tall, it needs trimming.
He will leave it to the professional to do it.
Overgrown Hedges

On Thursday the gardener was there to do some work, but he could not finish it, he told them that he would be coming back on the following week to continue his work.

The gardener came back once more to finish the job, trimming the hedges as promised.

Working was in progress, all cutting had to go to the tip.  It is a part of the gardener's service to clear up.

They decided to have a shorter hedge, it is still three metres high though.  Well, the owner is going to do the maintenance, but now and then it is good to ask the professional trimmer.

A new plant-purple wisteria was planted in the garden, she did it by herself.  It was hard work, luckily that the soil was soft enough to dig.

A good day for gardening, it was not hot, in fact, the rain came intermittently, but she was so eager to plant the tree.

What a process, to plant a tree properly has to be right, the size of the tree has to match with the whole in which it is planted. The plant starter has to be applied to make sure that the tree won't suffer too much during the transplant.
She did all of those, now she was sure that the wisteria tree was going to stay and grow.

Soon after planting the tree, she did some mulching around the citruses and strawberry plants. She was pleased to see the young strawberries were resting on the mulch.
The birds would not come to eat the berries for a reason.  That was a beautiful gesture of Eileen, giving her the Wise Owl to protect them. (She thought).

Busy people were working behind that gate today.  The place was so alive.

Around Christmas or Summertime, this young family always takes their walk, and passes by the place, and stops looking through the gate, their children wish to see the beautiful colour of hydrangea in full bloom.  They love flowers.  It's their annual visit, and they are happy enough to stand outside the gate.

The home gardener or the owner is very happy and pleased to know that.
A beautiful garden is even more appealing if it is enjoyed and appreciated by others.

Regardless whether the gate is open or close, people seem curious just the same, they will look through or at the entrance wondering . . . . . . ?

I love gates, any kind of, a new one, wooden or metal, rustic or modern, they tell us a story about the place and the owner.

I like the ritual of going out and getting in by the gate, lock and unlock it.   Going out of heading somewhere, it's a journey, whether it is a short or a long one.  Then open to get in, feeling good, for the sense of belonging to the place, being home and safe.

A gate is for security and safety and also to keep stray dogs not to get close to the house and mess up gardens.

Until Next Post
