Special Saturday

Children are coming home for a weekend, we are looking forward to seeing them.  Susan is a taking her French Bulldog, as well, but Alfie the dog even though he is small he is well dicipline as he attends the dogs' obedience school regularly.  Susan is very dedicated, and she cares about him so well, Alfie is so lucky.

The night before we all communicated with Jane, and the clear picture on our iPad was visible; we could see each other between Australia and the Netherlands.  Jane looks so well and so happy on her late pregnancy, she is due to give birth to her first baby in the first week of July.  It is a fascinating time for all of us.  Susan had an excellent time to talk with her sister. A relaxed morning, after Susan and Tristan took Alfie for a walk, we were relaxed having breakfast together, time to catch up again as Susan doesn't come home often.  They arrived late Friday night.  However, they enjoyed their dinner, Javanese dishes, of course.

Cooking for Saturday is simple and easy cooking, let the oven do the job, no fuss no mess but right.  Sweet Saturday, Shoulder Lamb with garnishes.  We had a delightful lunch, everyone loved the lamb with a Moroccan flavour. I will share the recipe, it is very flavoursome and friendly cooking.

The Luncheon
savouries puffed pumpkin sultana bread, slow cooking shoulder lamb, salads, pita bread and potato sponge cake with cream patisserie.

They left for Melbourne today at 2.45, they were planning to stop at her sister's in Clayton.  Travelling with a dog is a big operation, maybe I said it before.  They are very caring about Alfie, they want him to be comfortable in the car, so special preparation had to be done.  It did take time.

Quickly we were both catching up doing housework, and it did not take time at all.  Looking forward to the gardening show program on TV,  however, the quietness of the room hit me.  A few hours ago, the house was full of laughter, the kids and the dog.  It seems so strange, it is just the two of us.

A message was here, telling us that they have arrived in Melbourne safely, it was a relief. Tomorrow is Sunday, it is another day, another busy day for us, thank goodness for that.  It was great to have you both, thanks for spending time with us.

Have a happy weekend, thank you for visiting my blog

Health

Life Style, Eating, Cooking.

To stay well and healthy is very important for all of us, what we need is to be active, especially for those who are in their later life.  Walking, sports, gardening are excellent for keeping us fit, however eating the right food is a must.  Trying to cut down on fat, sugar intake is necessary, and to identify which food contains those substances is not very easy.  May be by choosing less processed food, deep fried food, have more fruits and vegetables is the way to go.  I could do with less extra kilograms to be healthy.

We have been joining a sport's club,  the keenagers' table tennis for the past few years, the game is fun, and we both are loving it. Without knowing it for more than three hours every week,  we are busy doing exercises, and having fun at the same time.  Fun, fun, having fun is a part of to stay healthy, fun in the garden, fun cooking, fun doing art, fun in a book club, they are all positive activities that gain us better well being.

Now, how about cooking, cooking good food for better health.  These are a few samples of delicious meals what I do for my family.  Cook chicken, serve without its skin.  Steamed rice instead of pilaf or fried rice. Vegetables and salad are a must have,  fresh fruit for desserts instead of rich pudding.  Keep the pudding for a treat, but you could have stuffed poached apple with custard.

Cooking Crown of Chicken
A part of a chicken-the breast and the wing is called the crown, cook in light oil and butter.  When it is cooked, discard the skin, serve the meat with its own juices.  It is a tasty and delicious chicken and less fat.

Steamed Plain White Rice
Fresh Vegetables
Stuffed apples are ready to poach in syrup

Cooking for growing up family, for adults and for the elderly are the same,  in terms of giving them a well-balanced diet.  Wishing losing extra kilos is not too hard, ' discipline' is the key, that is what I have to do.

A healthy lifestyle is the choice then. . . . . .

We both had a good morning, to play many games of table tennis in Drouin.   Started with a difficulty finding where the sports venue was, but It was a good day and meeting a lot of talented ladies who are over sixty, I am very proud of them.  Keep it up, girls!!!.

In our club, I think everyone is eager to keep healthy.

We like to have our fresh fruit daily.

Thanks For Stopping By.
