A Grand Sunday

A Grand Sunday with The Grand Kids

Cooking, cooking and cooking, even on Sundays.   This particular herb Daun salam for Javanese cooking is very hard to find, I have been looking for this herb everywhere.  We drove for two hours to go to the big Asian Grocery store, without success.  It was a great disappointment for me.  However, the consolation prize was so grand.  We left the store to continue our journey to visit our grandkids.  How good it was to see them, we have not seen them since Christmas.  They decided to take us out for lunch in a cafe and to go to a park afterwards.

It was a treat for the kids, they never have hot chips at home.

The cafe was a friendly place, the children were happy enough, and contented.  They were at their best behaviour, I was so proud.  Food was served, a few plates were out at the same time, mine looked good, but the dish was far too salty, very fortunate that there was a garden salad for the side dish.  I did not think to report to the cafe owner straight away, but we did before we left, and they said thanks for the feedback.    But we had a great day as we finished our lunch we walk to a park close by to have fun with the kids.  I could not keep up, they were very active and courageous.

It was a beautiful day, we were all a little tired by the time we got home.  Thank you, Kids, for the lovely day.

It is always good to be going out for a meal and spending time with the family in a relaxed way.  I appreciated very much, more so to see the grandkids and everyone all healthy and happy.  It was not only a good Sunday but a grand Sunday.

If I am lucky enough I will get the daun salam (Javanese bay leaf) for my Javanese cooking, eventually.
