The Night Before

Particular food has to be prepared the night before to get to the next stage, such as brioche, it needs refrigeration to slow raising and easy shaping.  Breakfast food-nasi goreng, the rice is better to be prepared the day before to get easier cooking.  Picnic food, such as arem arem, meatloaf, these goodies can easily to be ready earlier or the day before.

Arem- Javanese cooking: rice rolls stuffed with spicy meat and vegetables
Ingredients: banana leaf for cooking the arem arem
Rice, omelette, and stuffing

Arem - Arem
I could not find the banana leaves; instead I used silverbeets

The day or night before preparation
At this stage, you could boil it or keep in the refrigerator, and cook it the next day.
Keep it fresh, slice it when it is completely cold.

unwrapped the arem arem
Cut and slice the arem-arem to serve.

To Decorate Cakes
Sliced coffee cake with meringue, have the cake ready - icy it the day before and dress the cake before serving to keep the meringue stay crisp.
Savoury brioche, prepared the night before, then refrigerate, cover with plastic wrap, then bake it in the morning.

Preparation for Brioches
The night before
refrigerate the ready brioche for baking, cover it to prevent drying out.
The next morning
Get the brioche and bake accordingly.  Slice it when it is cold.

Brioches are delicious served hot, warm or room temperature.

Other cooking is better to be prepared the night before for a better result and saving time.

Nasi Goreng

Cooking nasi goreng is better if the steamed white rice is cold, and cooked the day before.  The rice is easier to be separated.

Scones are better to be served fresh the day they are baked; however, you could freeze, freshly baked scones, and serve on other days successfully.
Having fresh scones is a treat, and can be done quickly.  The night before preparing all the ingredients, measure and weigh correctly, keep them on clean, covered bowls and make sure the scone cutter and the baking tin are there ready.  The next morning you simply put on the oven to a high heat, which only takes about 12-15 minutes to reach the right temperature.
In the meantime, the scones preparation is going, and within fifteen minutes the scones are ready to put in the oven, and ten minutes later or a little more the freshly baked scones are there to have.

Garnishes
Garnishes, as to make the dish, looks pretty,  I use herbs and edible flowers.

I get them ready the previous day, and I wash the flowers/herbs and place them on the water to keep fresh.

Discipline and excellent organisation are the keys to success, and it is so true in cooking.

Until Next Post
