Fiddle Leaf Fig

Potted Fiddle Leaf Fig

Susan's indoor plant the Fiddle Leaf Fig tree is not well, and she brought it home to me so I can look after it.
Now I have a new patient,  it looks sick, and the leaves don't look right.  It may need repotting to give a fresh start.  I got rid of the old soil, washed the pot, soaked the plant in a bucket of water,  added with plant starter to prevent from root shock.
I hope for the best that the plant will live, and is growing better in the new soil and liking the spot where the plant is going to stay.
I plan to place the new plant inside the house, by the large window, it will get the morning sun, it should be the right place.

The Repotting
The repotting was done in the backyard, there is room to move around, the water is easily accessible too.  I started by picking the delicate leaves, there were five of them.  They said, sacrifice some and gain some.

Right potting mix and plant starter are essential, specially repotting a slightly diseased plant.

Discard the soil from the pot, throw away the leaves as well, as they have deceases
Getting the soil out of the pot

washing the pot, make sure it is spotless and get it dry.

place the plant in water which has been added with plant starter
to prevent the root shock
Put gravel in the bottom of the pot
Add in the potting mix over the gravels.

Place the plant in the middle of the pot, fill the pot with more potting mix, add water and the plant starter solution.
The leaves have to be thrown away to go with the garden rubbish, to make sure that other plants in the garden don't get the deceases.

The repotting has been done beautifully, the soil should be wet, and don't forget to put the plate back under the pot.  Leave it outside until the water is well drained.

Now the new potted Fiddle Leaf Fig is inside the house, it is well protected, and every day it gets the morning Sun, it looks good to sit in a front the large window.  In a couple of months, I am sure it will have new growth or new leaves.  I am looking forward to it.  By the Springtime, the plant should look leafy green and beautiful.  Just wait and see.

The patient needs special care,  once a week in three weeks, I must not forget to give water with the plant starter solution, then followed by providing a slow release fertiliser.  Keep the plant moist at all time, I have to remember that.

Susan can collect the plant when it is totally better, and she will enjoy this beautiful indoor plant for her house.

If you have any tips for me about caring for indoor plants, I will be pleased of you to share.  Thank you.

Until Next Post
