Christmas In July

Christmas in July refers to Christmas-themed celebration held in July.  In the southern hemisphere, winter falls in July.  Therefore in countries such as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa to have Christmas with a winter feel Christmas in July events are undertaken.  However, Christmas in December, the usual month, is a far more common practice, despite it being summer.

In the northern hemisphere, some people throw parties during July that mimic Christmas celebrations, bringing the atmosphere of Christmas but with warmer temperatures.  Parties may include Santa Claus, ice cream and other cold foods, and gifts.  Nightclubs often host parties open to the public. Birthday and Christmas in July.
July is a significant month for our family, as Susan was born in this month.  We tend to have a family get together on the children's birthday, for this year I was thinking of having Susan's birthday celebration along with the celebration of Christmas in July.   We did not though, but we did have a great time together, the feast was not of the traditional Christmas, but the menu was excellent.

Christmas cake was cut and served to mark the occasion, I thought it was entirely appropriate. Also, it is an excellent time to share, and it was enough cake to share with friends.

The fruit cake was baked and prepared last year.  It is a dark fruit cake, very, very precious.

Early birthday celebrations for Susan took place this year, as she has been so busy at work, and also she is going away for a holiday.
Her birthday breakfast was Javanese style breakfast, hot food: rice and garnishes.
The main course of her birthday feast was roast beef fillet with its accompaniments, but the eye fillet was overcooked.  It can happen to an experienced cook.  Keep on learning is the answer.

Platters of sliced Christmas cake

Sweet and very rich fruit cake.

This deliciously rich and moist dark fruit cake to go with tea and coffee, a  perfect cake served during winter.

The aroma and smell of the brandy and sherry in the fruit cake is so precious and festive.

It is mid-July now, I am sure people are still having the Christmas July celebrations, have a good time to you all, enjoy the family, friends and the 'feast'; roast turkey with all the trimmings and of course the plum pudding served with brandy sauce.

Until Next Post
