ORCHIDS, 2018

The orchids plants have the best care; however, not every plant produces flowers this year, most of them need a rest.  It is good, to see a few plants are in flower and more buds are opening.

The Potted Orchid Plants

These are very good looking and healthy potted Cymbidium and Phalaenopsis orchids.  No flowers or not even a bud for the Phalaenopsis unfortunately but the two Cymbidium orchids are in flowers, and beautiful. I am looking forward to seeing the Pink Kirby Less in full bloom soon.

The Beautiful Bloom.

The flowers could last for four weeks in the pot, we don't need cut flowers for this time of the year.

It is so cold outside. The flowering orchid plant now is happy and feeling warm to sit under the table inside the house.
.

The front room, of the house, is so open, it is almost designed for keeping these orchids during wintertime.  I could not be happier to have the room and make the best of it, sometimes the family has to put up with it, as the place becomes a green jungle or forest, the sense of peacefulness is there though, so it is all good.

One more orchid is joining to the rest, it is Tracyanum orchid (I hope, it is), the label is no longer there.  The plant has a strong stem with lots of buds, it is going to be so spectacular when they all open to full bloom, the colour is greenish with a touch of light brown.

Actually,  the buds of the orchid are far too young, to move the plant inside the house maybe not ideal but I took the chance, I hope it will grow well, the room is warm, and the natural light comes by the window.

Next month, sometime in August is going to be an orchid show in the Latrobe Valley, the date that is worth to remember.  It is good to attend to see beautiful orchids on display, I am looking forward to.

Overall the orchids do alright, no disappointment, last year was great, more flowers in every pot, it was better.

UPDATE.
Planting Orchids from the Bulb.
The picture of the Radiant Ruby in 2017, the new growth.  It has been growing since and now a few more leaves and further growth in the pot.  If I am lucky enough, the orchid will be flowering in two years, just wait and see.

2018, the plant is growing well.

July 2018 the orchid has grown beautifully, more leaves and bigger.
It sits inside the house by the window, and I will keep it that way.  It is happy over there, away from the strong wind, and it gets enough natural sunlight.

Other Winter Flowers
The orchids as I said do alright and the Flowering Cherry is fantastic.

Indeed, it is cold outside, the warmth of the sun is seldom here, the garden looks so dull, but a place that we love to see is the front yard.  It is green enough, and the flowering cherry winter sun is a delight for the area. It flowers throughout the winter that the name Winter Sun from.  It is so pretty this time, last year was rather sad, almost no flowers only empty branches.
It flowers beautifully this year, full of flowers, I am sure the children would be so glad to see it.
