Days In September

Moments to remember during the month.
It started off with Father's Day. 
Very significant changes in my cooking style for a healthy living
Gardening is more enjoyable, thanks to the generosity of Nature.


Father's Day, It was a great day
Bakano Etna-a cascading orchid is the latest member of the cymbidium collection.


Healthy Eating Awareness
Less salt and fat for cooking, pasties and cauliflower loaf


Spring flowers from the backyard were picked.



A Treat for The family
Leafy salad, young baked chicken and light choux pastry 
for a healthy dinner
 The choux pastry was filled with custard, and less sugar for everyone can enjoy.
Young chicken is quick to cook and not too fatty.


*Good news to know that Henry and Lily like the new childcare.*

*It was good to learn that Milo started to make a few steps.  The first step was on the 18th of September.*

Baking has failed for the first time, from sponge-to jam roll to trifle
Trifle is the best dessert to prepare for family's treat, it has unsweetened custard
 and low-calorie jelly, a small cream can be added on top (to make it look pretty)

Cold sandwiches for dinner.
It is very seldom, a practical day-No cooking day.


Sam. Alexandra and Jenny stopped by and enjoyed the garden, they admired the topiary Giraffe.  It was an unexpected visit, but indeed it delighted me.  Sorry, no pictures.


Small serve,  reducing fat and salt.  Eating leaner and less meat/protein and sweets



The question was answered, is it a cascading orchid or it is not.  From budding to flowers


It is an upright orchid

Planted a new shrub-Crepe Myrtle was dedicated to Rayner.
Pink blossom of the shrub which we shall both enjoy when it is flowering around Spring to Sumner.



At last, we have been enjoying the beautiful bloom of wisteria which will finish flowering soon.


Saw Mel and the kids via Face time, lovely! They are all good and well.  


The first red rose for 2013 is almost open.
From a rose bush, it now becomes fourteen rose bushes.  


Pretty apple ballerina is blossoming. 
There are more flowers soon.



The last cymbidium is in flower
Beautiful hot is pinkish to red colour.  Now it is sitting by the kitchen door.

Gorgeous Spring leaves colour.


Asparagus
I am so pleased and glad that the asparagus are shooting up.  I thought I have lost them.  Thinking of Kay who gave the seeds a long time ago.


New Recipe for Couscous
Cooking couscous with the difference, herbs and fresh chopped fruit was added, a new way that will stay with us.
How to prepare: follow the instruction of the packet, at the last minute of cooking, put in the chopped apple, stir together.  When it is cooked, add mixed fresh chopped herbs (coriander, mints, and fennel frond) and oil, toss them together then garnish with the pomegranate.  Serve at once.

The last day of September.
The first bloom of red roses was picked, it's deep red, beautiful!



Today is Monday, The Last Day of the Month.
I picked the first rose from the garden, then followed by a great game of table tennis in our club in the morning and loving it.  An excellent start for a good week.


Days in September 2013 are good and well.  Friends come to visit, and others come to a stop by to say hi, and catching up with family and grandkids,  thank you all. Overall it has been a delightful month.
