Beautiful Food


Fancy cakes, scones, beautiful finger sandwiches are famous for special occasions.
Farewell to a friend last week, she was moving to the city, I prepared finger sandwiches and a beautiful chocolate cake for morning tea.

You would feel good to have delicious food that is well presented and looking beautiful.  That was what we had to celebrate our friendship with Liz.  Our best wishes to you, Liz, with your family.  I do hope to see you again from time to time.

Herb garden is good to have, the edible flowers and the herbs add the flavour of the cooking, and they make beautiful garnishes.  Here are more delicate food,  prepared from my kitchen.

Cooking potato and chicken pieces in a Tajine,  and to appreciate the red chicory from the garden, I prepared a salad to garnish the dish.

Delicious  Salad for Winter
Salads are prepared throughout the year at our place, harvested a pomegranate and pomelo fruits to add in the salads to make the meal more enjoyable.  I make the best of the produce from our backyard, from citruses to vegetables.  The first time to plant red chicory and I served it for fresh salad and also cooked salad.  They both are delicious, and my family love them.

Fresh Red Chicory
Red Chicory a bitter flavour of Italian lettuce, delicious to serve raw or cooked.
(Come to think of it, the Italian lettuce-pictured above, maybe not red chicory but the family of radicchio)



Pomelo,  we harvested a few this year, and we love the pomelo for mixed salads to serve with grilled or fried, fish, prawns or meat.  It is very refreshing.

Note: my pomelo plant is relatively young; it does not give good fruits yet, the fruits are smallish, they are not large enough as pomelo should be.  The taste still not sweet and also bitter.  But we enjoyed them to add in fruit salads or mixed vegetable salads.

A treat for a Sunday, a rich fruit scones with egg.

Sponge Cake
Powder Puff Sponge, the recipe from a friend, I did it almost as good.  Beating the eggs and sugar together, for ten minutes or more was the key.  The sponge was light, and it did not have the eggy smell. 
We love our healthy and beautiful food, I do often enough, but especially when the children are home, and sometimes we love to share them with friends.
